Why Dental Coaching?
My experience in working with dentists is that they are very good at what they do but not necessarily good at running a business. The journey from being a dentist to being a dentist that is in charge of, and running a business in a way that works, can seem to be a difficult one.
While most dental practices are not large organizations, leading even a small business is not simple.
Look over the following questions to see where you are:
- Do you find yourself being frustrated by being the boss?
- Do you sometimes think that no one but you cares about getting the job done?
- Do you have Team members you actually avoid at times?
- Do you communicate clear directions only to find mistakes are made?
- Do you find yourself with more and more work to do while trying to compensate for under-performers?
- Have you tried to get more commitment and motivation from your Team but problems still continue?
- Do you get angry with your Team when the results you expect aren’t achieved?
- Do you worry that you may not be successful?
- Do you feel stretched too thin?
- Are you questioning your choice of career paths?
Just like the courses you take to improve your clinical skills you should pursue ways for you and your Team to get your “business” on track. Dental Coaching is designed to help you and your Team to put the right amount of effort and focus on your goal of becoming a more successful practice.
Here are some additional questions to help you assess your coaching readiness.
- To devote 1-2 hours per week to work on my practice?
- To be patient, recognizing that behavioral change (mine or others) takes time?
- To take a look at my strengths as well as areas for improvement?
- To be honest and open-minded with myself and my coach?
- To take risks and step outside my comfort zone?
- To take an active role in the coaching process?
- To involve others in my coaching when/if it is necessary?
You and your Team can learn this. If you’d like some assistance, let me know.
There are practices who “need” my help and there are practices who “want” my help.
I choose to work with the ones who “want” my help.
There is a difference!
